Switch on the Extender

Connect the extender with the App
- Go to Google Play Store or the Apple App Store and type TP-Link Tether and click search.
- Now launch the app and log in with your ID.
- If you do not have an account then you need to sign up and make an account.
- After creating an account you need to log in with your credentials.
- Click the + sign on the upper right section of the app.
- There you will be asked whether you want to connect to a router or a range extender. Click range extender.
- Fill in all the required instructions.
- Now find the best place to plug in your extender to get the best performance and coverage.
- To get the best performance plugin your extender just between the host router and the device. The area where the signal gets weak or losses the signal strength is called WiFi Dead Zone.
- Now the extenders LED will light up solid blue within 2 minutes.
- If you are still getting a weak signal then you need to again relocate the extender.
Connect the Extender Via WPS Button
Connecting via the WPS button is the easiest way to establish a connection between the host router and the range extender. Follow the steps given below:
- You will find the WPS button behind the router. Press it for three seconds and then press the WPS button on the Range extender. Keep in mind that you need to do this process within two minutes.
- The moment the LED turns solid on from blinking; this indicates that the connection is established.
Tip: The extenders name will be the same as the router but with _EXT at the end. Keep in mind that the password will be the same as your router.
Connecting the Extender Via Web Browser
- Wirelessly connect your extender with the computer or via Ethernet cable.
- If you are using a Microsoft Windows operating system then follow the below steps:
If your system is connect with any other Ethernet cable then unplug it.
Now connect to the TP-Link_Extender network. - If you are using a Mac operating system then follow the below steps:

Now click on the WiFi icon on the upper right section of the desktop. There you will find a network named as TP-Link_Extender. Click on it and connect. - Now open your web browser and type 192.168.0.254 or http://192.168.0.254 and press enter.
- You will be request to create your password. Think of a password that you can easily recall but is difficult to assume for anyone. Now click log in.
- After logging in you will see various routers to connect. Find the host router and type its password. Now click next.
- After clicking next a prompt box will box for your confirmation to proceed. Click to confirm.
- Now you have the option to change your SSID also known as the network name keep it as it is.
- Sit tight and follow the instructions provide in the setup. After reading everything you click done.
- Finally, you will again be prompt with a confirmation. If you are satisfied with the configuration the click finish else go back and make any desired changes.
