WHAT DOES THE DYMO LABEL STATUS LIGHTS DENOTE?

The Status Lights, as the name suggests, visually signifies the current status or state of the printer. The following are the different status lights along with what they stand for-

1. Solid Blue – This means that the power is turned ON and the printer is ready to operate.
2. Dimmed Blue – This means that the printer is in power-saving mode.
3. Flashing Blue – This means that either the labels are not properly loaded or the label roll is empty and needs a refill.

ARE YOU FACING POOR QUALITY PRINTS IN DYMO 450?

The DYMO LabelWriter 450 is designed for high-quality and efficient results, but if you are facing poor print quality, it can be caused by one of these-

1. If you are using a third-party manufacturer’s labels and not the genuine DYMO labels.
2. The thermal coating of the labels might be compromised and are not of supreme quality.
3. Your Label roll might be old.
4. The print head might be dirty.

First things first, do not use third-party labels since their thermal coating has a different sensitivity that the genuine DYMO labels and the perforations between the third-party labels are often undetectable by the LableWriter Printers.

If you are facing fainted quality prints and notice small dots of white scattered through the printed characters or dark and light patches of printing, your labels rolls are probably faulty. Try using a new label roll.

Another possibility is that you have a dirty print head. To clean the print head, make use of the cleaning tool inside of the label cassette tray and gently wipe the print head.

Note – The print head is very delicate, so make sure to clean gently with care.

DO THE LABELS NOT FEED CORRECTLY?

Check the following if your labels do not feed correctly –

  • Your labels might not be loaded properly
Make sure that the left edge of the label is aligned with the left edge of the label feed slot so that your labels are properly loaded.
  •

  • You might be using third-party labels
As mentioned before, the non-genuine or third-party labels will hinder the performance of your printer and this might be the reason why your labels do not feed correctly.

ARE YOU UNABLE TO PRINT ON LABEL WRITER 450 PRINTER?

If your printer is not printing or stops while in use, look for the problem by following these steps below –

  • Make sure that the power cable is plugged in and the printer is still receiving power. If the status light on the front not lit, this is an indication that the power is stripped off of the printer.
  • Look if the dymo printer is feeding labels properly by pushing the form feed button. If the status light is blinking and the labels are jammed, clean the label Jams by tearing off the already fed labels, and by pressing the label release lever forward you can pull out the jammed label from the feed slot.
  • Make sure that the USB cable connecting your printer and your computer has not come loose and is connected properly.
  • Check if the LabelWriter printer driver is correctly installed.

The driver takes the print data from the software and further directs it to the printer. If the driver is not installed properly, you’ll not be able to print. Typically, the driver is installed when you install the software that comes with the printer but chances are the driver may have been altered or deleted by mistake.

So, to check, follow the steps below-
  • From the Start menu, click on the Printers and Faxes.
  • In the Printers and Faxes settings, the LabelWriter Printer icon could be seen.
  • Right-click on the icon and click on Properties.
  • Now, from there go to Printing Preferences and click Advanced.
  • The Advanced dialog box will display an error if the printer is not installed properly and you’ll have to re-install the printer referring to the above-mentioned setup.

Note- This step is only for Windows users.
