How to install Rock space AX1800 WiFi 6 Router
If you are connecting the Rockspace AX1800 WiFi Router for the first time, then please skip Step 1 and follow the instructions from Step 2.
If you are very pro¬ficient in router settings and aware of what is the PPPoE username and password, you can refer to Step 1. Copy the credentials from your original router to AX1800 WiFi router to save some time.
Step 1: Import your PPPoE username and password from your original router.
- Power on your original and new routers.
- Connect the LAN port of the new router t6 the WAN port of the original router through an Ethernet cable.
- Once the LAN and WAN LED indicators of the new router turn solid for 3 seconds, the PPPoE username and password are imported to your new router.
- Finally, remove the original router.
Step 2: Connect your new router to the internet
- Power on the new router.
- Connect the LAN port of your modem or the Ethernet jack to the WAN port of the new router using an Ethernet cable. The WAN LED indicator lights on.
Connecting Your Devices to the WiFi 6 Router
There are two ways by which you can connect your devices to the AX1800 router:
- Connect your WiFi-enabled device (such as a smart phone) to the new router’s WiFi network using the SSID(WiFi name) labelled on the bottom of the router. There is no WiFi password by default.
- Connect your wired device (such as a computer) to a LAN port of the router using an Ethernet cable. The LAN LED indicator lights up.
How to setup Rockspace AX1800 Router for Internet Access?
Setting up the AX1800 WiFi 6 Router is very easy and involves minimal steps as follows:
- Plug the WiFi router into a power outlet.
- Open WiFi on your device and connect to the AX1800 router.
- The setup page will automatically pop up once the connection is established with your client device.
If the setup page does not pop up automatically, open your browser on your device and enter 192.168.1.1 in the address bar and hit Enter on the start page. - In the Password ¬field, type the username and password as admin to log into the management interface.
Note: Both the username and password are admin. The password you entered in this step is NOT the password for your router network, it is the password for the router’s management interface. - Now, select your region and time zone and click Next.
- The router supports three connection types: PPPoE, Dynamic IP Address and Static IP Address. Set the required parameters and click Next.
Note: If your internet connection type is Dynamic IP, click Next. If your internet connection type is Static IP, enter your IP address and other information your ISP provides, and then click Next.

- Customize your WiFi name (SSID) and WiFi password and click Next. You can also hide the SSID.
Note: If you have hidden one or two network names, you should follow the instructions below after ¬finishing the setup. - Turn on the smart phone and navigate to Settings > WLAN > Add Network. And enter the network name you have hidden, for example rockspace-WiFi6-2.4g.
- Click Connect and enter the new password. You will be connected to the network successfully.
- Customize your WiFi name (SSID) and WiFi password and click Next. You can also hide the SSID.
Confi¬rm your network name and password and click Next.
- Once the above steps are completed, the router will reboot again. Go to your WI-FI network list and the SSID named by yourself. You can now connect your devices to the newly setup router via its password. And the wired devices connected to the router can access the internet directly now. If you want to modify the settings, please log in the management page (IP address is 192.168.1.1) again after completing the initial settings.
Rockspace WiFi 6 Router Dual Band Settings
To configure the dual band settings in your AX1800 router:
- Open a browser and enter the IP address as 192.168.1.1 In the URL.
- Click Wireless. You will see a page where you can customize your private network name and password here.
- Select Hide SSID. You can also hide the 2.4GHZ Network or the 5GHZ Network.
- Now click Save.
Note: Your router will now restart you will have to find its SSID in the network wifi list and connect to it via new password. - Turn on the smart phone and navigate to Settings > WLAN > Add Network.
- Enter the network name you have hidden, such as rockspace-WiFi6-2.4g.
- Click Connect and hit enter. You will be connected to the network successfully.
Performing Parental Control in Rockspace AX1800 Router
The AX1800 WiFi 6 router provides an inbuilt Parental control feature. Parental control will help you block indecent websites. To configure this feature in your AX1800 router:
- Open a browser and enter the IP address as 192.168.1.1 In the URL.
- Navigate to Advanced Settings > Network Control > Parental Control. In this interface, you can add the device that you want to set a parental control.
- Turn on Parental Control and click Add. You can enter the device name, MAC Address, access time restriction and choose the repeat mode.
Note: To find a list of all the device name and their MAC addresses, go to Network Map > Wireless Clients. - After this setting, the router will reboot again. Please reconnect to the router
AX1800 WiFi 6 Router Ports, Buttons and LED Indicators
The following are the ports/buttons that are present on the WiFi 6 router and their description:
- USB: The USB port is used to connect devices that support USB 3.0, and can also support USB 2.0.
- Reset/WPS: Reset – The Reset button will restart the device if pressed for 8 seconds. The device will restore the factory settings. WPS – The WPS button will start the WPS if pressed for 3 seconds. The device will quickly connect to other devices that support WPS terminals.
- LAN 1/2/3/4: The LAN ports connect wired devices such as computers or switches.
- WAN: The WAN port connects the router to the internet
- Power: The Power port connects the power.
The following table shows the LED status and its description:
- Power Solid green: The device is ready.
- Off: The device does not start or is not powered.
- 2.4G Solid green: 2.4GHz Wi-Fi is connected.
- Off: 2.4G Wi-Fi is not connected.
- Blinking green: 2.4G Wi-Fi is sending or receiving traffic.
- 5G Solid green: 5 GHz Wi-Fi is connected.
- Off: 5G Wi-Fi is not connected.
- Blinking green: 5G Wi-Fi is sending or receiving traffic.
- WPS Blinking green: WPS is turned on, waiting for terminal device to access.
- Off: WPS is turned off.
Firmware Update of Rockspace AX1800 Router
You can update the firmware of Rockspace AX1800 by following these steps:
- Open the browser and log into the management page by entering the IP address 192.168.1.1.
- Now navigate to Advanced Settings > System Tools > Firmware Upgrade.
- Locate the file for latest Firmware on your computer.
- Click Install. The process will take up to 2-3 minutes to upgrade the firmware.
- Once the installation is complete your Rockspace router will reboot. Make sure you do not turn of the power.
Note: Download the Rockspace router firmware from their official website only.
Troubleshooting Rockspace AX1800 WiFi 6 Router
Why I am not able to log into the web UI of the router?
- Confi¬rm whether your device is connected to the WIFI6-53B9_2.4G.
- Con¬firm if your IP address is 192.168.1.1.
- Con¬firm that both the username and password is admin.
How can I reset the router?
- Press the Reset button for about 8 seconds to restore factory settings.
- Log in to the management page and click the Reboot option. In this interface, you can also turn on WPS.
How to turn on WPS?
- Press the WPS button for about 3 seconds to start the WPS.
- Log in to the management page and navigate to Advanced Settings > Wireless > WPS.
Does the AX1800 WiFi Router support IPv6?
For now, the AX1800 Router WiFi 6 does not support the IPv6. The tech team is still studying for this function, and we will upload the latest version on the management page (192.168.1.1). Then you can download it and use the function of IPv6.
